These
small collages are an exercise in playful abstraction. They are inspired by the
distressed walls of Pompei
Inherent
in each small work are concepts and a vocabulary that I have been working with
for some time:
Distressed
surfaces that emphasize the beauty of the patina of time
The
transformation of materials and recycled fragments of other works
The
importance of balance in a collage. Sometimes an 1/8 of an inch in the
placement of a piece
or the white edge of a tear can make a difference.
All of the above reflect deeper concepts that
influence my work and my life.
